Superintendency Vacancy Filled

Steve Combs has been employed as the new superintendent for the Harrisburg R-VIII School District starting July 1, 2017. Steve is currently employed as the high school principal for the district. The superintendent search attracted a strong candidate pool. The search effort by Harrisburg’s Board of Education was supported by the Missouri Association of Rural Education. Mike Jinks, search consultant, provided a pool of twelve candidates for the board of which five candidates were recommended for interviews. Of the five finalists, one was a current superintendent, one had other central office experience, and three were current building level administrators.

Steve is a 1991 graduate of Harrisburg Schools. He previously taught social studies and physical education for Moberly, Louisianna, and Harrisburg school districts and has also served as a building administrator in Harrisburg for the past eleven years. Steve earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from Columbia College, a Master of Education degree from William Woods University, and a Specialist of Education degree also from William Woods University. He has been actively involved with Harrisburg Schools and the Harrisburg community throughout his life. The Harrisburg R-VIII School District is looking forward to Steve Combs continuing the excellence of the district and to welcoming him into this important leadership position.
