Summer Journey – Summer School

 June 1 – June 25, 2021

Location: Harrisburg Elementary School Building

Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM

We are excited about Summer School!  Here is some important information for you:

Class Lists: 

Each grade level will have one class (middle school students will be split between two classes).  Students will gather in the gym on the first day of summer school and learn classroom assignments.

Supplies:

Incoming kindergarteners should bring a nap mat for afternoon rest time (which they will need for use during the first semester of their regular kindergarten year). All other supplies are provided for ALL students.

Breakfast & Lunch:  

Breakfast and lunch will continue to be served free of charge to students attending summer school. 

Breakfast will be served beginning at 7:45 AM. 

Snacks: 

Kindergarteners and first graders will be provided an afternoon snack. The cost per student will be $6.00 for the entire session and must be paid for in advance (It is not covered under the free and reduced program). Second-eighth graders may bring a snack with them if desired. Soda/energy drinks are not permitted for consumption during the school day.

Transportation: 

If your child(ren) is riding the bus, please be reminded to plan for a 10 minute window on either side of your child’s pick up and drop off times for the first week or so until we have fully established accurate enrollment. Your child’s bus driver will be in contact regarding a pickup and dropoff time.

Nurse:  

We will not have a nurse on duty during the summer school term. 

Absences:  

If your child will be absent for any portion/day of the summer school term, please inform us by contacting the office at burrisg@harrisburg.k12.mo.us or 573-875-0290. 

Discipline:  

All discipline policies outlined in the Student Code of Conduct including student bus conduct will be enforced during summer school and all related activities.  Inappropriate behaviors are unacceptable during summer school.  If a student violates the Student Code of Conduct he/she will be sent to the office where the parent/guardian will be called and the situation discussed. A first violation of the Student Code of Conduct MAY result in dismissal for the remainder of the summer term. A second violation of the Student Code of Conduct WILL result in automatic dismissal from the program for the remainder of the summer term. In the event of student dismissal, students are no longer eligible for rewards. 

**Cell phones and other electronics are not permitted for student use during school hours INCLUDING on buses (INCLUDING MIDDLE SCHOOLERS!!!! Offenses will result in dismissal)
