Harrisburg R-VIII is once again accredited with Distinction in Performance
 Congratulations to the Harrisburg Baseball Team! They won the District Championship! Their sectional game will be Monday at 6:00 p.m. in Harrisburg. They will be playing Russelville. Congratulations to our HS Quiz Bowl Team! Preston Williams, Liz Bryan, Mikaela Lewis, Derek Howard, Steven Berhow, Brianna O'Brien, Starlight Katsaros, and Kirsten Yoder took first place in districts!

Congratulations to the Harrisburg Choirs for achieving a 2 Excellent Rating at the State Large Ensemble Festival at Mexico High School. The students have worked very hard to push themselves to a new level of excellence. Congrats to all the members of the choir! Also Congratulations to JP Canote, Collin Guill, and Mikaela Lewis for earning 1 Superior Ratings for their Solos! This allows them to go on to compete at State Solo and Ensemble in Columbia later this month. Congrats as well to the Woodwind Trio of Mikaela Lewis, Preston Williams, and Starlight Catsaros, Soloists Beth Bland and James Lewis for receiving a 2 Excellent rating.
Common Core Information The Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will be holding statewide meetings to answer parents' questions about the Common Core Standards statewide adoption for Communication Arts and Math. Here is a link to the letter that will give you more information of where the meetings are being held at.

Comprehensive School Improvement Planning Time The Harrisburg R-VIII School District is seeking volunteer who are willing to help with the task of reviewing and updating its Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP). Strategic Action Committees will be formed to evaluate previously established goals, progress made toward those goals, and relevance of those goals as we strive to continuously improve the comprehensive educational program offered to the students of this district. Buddy Pack Program For the 2012-2013 school, year we are again fortunate to be able to participate in the Central Missouri Food Bank's Buddy Pack Program. Over the past two years, the number of children participating in this program has grown from approximately 70 in 2010-2011 to nearly 100 in 2011-12. Our hope is to be able to extend this service to more of our students in need, particularly our middle school and high school students. If you or your organization would like to make a donation to assist with the program or if you have any questions, please contact the elementary office at 875-0290.
