First graders are learning all about maps and globes! By the end of this unit some things students will learn are how to identify globes as representations of real places, to read/construct and use maps which have a title & key, describe how maps are created for different purposes, use a compass rose to identify cardinal directions on a map, and locate a place by pointing it out a map and describing it’s relative location. Thank you to Mrs. Class for lending us all of her map books for our first graders to explore!

Good luck to the Harrisburg Bulldog cheerleaders who will be cheering/performing at the Final Four today at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm and 2:00 pm!!! #BulldawgPride

TEACHER FEATURE TUESDAY: Today’s featured teacher is Mrs. Emily Furlong. Mrs. Furlong joined our teaching team this year as a Parents as Teachers Parent Educator. Emily came to our district with a wealth of experience as a school social worker in the St. Clair School District, Children’s Service Worker for the Department of Social Services, and extensive volunteer work with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Columbia.
“Emily has been a great addition to our PAT program! She comes with a wealth of knowledge from working in the social work field and also hands on experience with her own preschool age kiddo.” - Dana Byrd, Parents as Teacher Coordinator
“Our Parents As Teachers Program often provides the first contact for the district with many of our families. As a parent that has had kids in the PAT program I can say our parent educators most definitely go above and beyond to put families in touch with resources, provide information about developmental milestones as well as provide peace of mind in regards to different obstacles of being a parent." - Gabe Burris, Elementary Principal
Thank you, Mrs. Furlong, for the many ways you support our youngest Bulldogs and their families. #BulldawgPride
