Today’s featured teacher is Mrs. Toby Class. April is National Library Month and we are incredibly blessed to have such an enthusiastic, innovative, and compassionate teacher librarian leading our Elementary and Middle School library program.
Mrs. Class has been an educator at Harrisburg for nine years and has been our Pre-K - 8th grade librarian since 2019. As librarian, Mrs. Class has every single elementary and middle schooler as a student. She meets with classes every day, manages the library collection of print and digital resources, collaborates with teachers on lessons and resource needs, supports students with information literacy projects, and promotes reading and literacy.
Fostering access to and a love for reading is paramount to the work of a dedicated librarian and Mrs. Class works tirelessly to provide her students and community with those things. Three times a year she hosts and facilitates book fairs to build excitement for books and self-selected reading. Mrs. Class also initiated the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program in our community. This program provides, free of charge, one book a month to all preschool children and their families. In addition, Mrs. Class has served on multiple school and district committees including the Professional Learning Committee, Principal’s Advisory Committee, and the Technology Committee.
A strong library program has a direct impact on the success of our students and school and we are very fortunate to have the talent and skill of Mrs. Class in this role in our district.
